 MOSCOW - One Russian border guard was killed and another missing and feared dead after they were caught on Sunday in an avalanche in the mountains of the Caucasus province of Dagestan, Interfax news agency reported.

The two were in a group of five border guards traveling together in the mountains in the Tsunti district when the avalanche occurred. Three managed to climb out of the snow, but one was found dead and the other was missing and feared dead, the report said. A search for the missing guard was under way. |
