Peshawar District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali put pressure on the local police in order to deprive us of our ancestral lands, Wahid Gul, a resident of Hashtnagri, said on Monday. Addressing a press conference, he alleged that the district nazim had, on a number of occasions, sent proclaimed offenders to force his family members to handover a two-kanal piece of land. He said that the nazim wanted the plot to be handed over to his son in law, who owns a hotel in the vicinity. Wahid alleged that the Nazim had prepared forged documents of the plot, whereas they possessed the original documents, and appealed to the NWFP chief minister to intervene. He said that the plot belonged to thirteen members of his family and that it was the only asset his family had. He said that Hashtnagri police had raided their house several times in the last week without any court orders, and tried to oust them from the plot. "We raised a commotion, and the residents of the area, who knew the property belonged to us, saved us from the police," he claimed.
