The United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has called for the resumption of six-nation talks on North Korea's nuclear program. In a meeting in Seoul with South Korean president Roh Moo Hyun, Mr Annan urged the six countries involved in talks on North Korea's nuclear programs to resume negotiations as soon as possible. The talks have been stalled since late last year, with North Korea refusing to return unless the United States lifts financial sanctions on banks that do business with Pyongyang. The US has shown no sign of giving in to that demand and in recent days has been reportedly considering more sanctions against Chinese banks with links to North Korea.
