A serviceman of Interior Troops and a police officer died in two clashes with militants in Chechnya on Sunday, a source in Chechen law enforcement told Interfax on Monday. There were killed and wounded on the side of the militants. The source said that there was an exchange of fire between Yug (South) battalion and militants at about midnight on Sunday near the village of Nikikhita. One serviceman died of wounds at the scene; one more was rushed to hospital. The other clash took place near the village of Tatai-Khutor where the patrol police had discovered a group of militants. One officer was killed in the exchange of fire, two others were hospitalized with shot wounds. |
