Amir Cheema died of strangulation |

ISLAMABAD: A provisional autopsy report received by the Foreign Office late on Wednesday night states that Amir Cheema died of strangulation in his jail cell in Germany, Daily Times has learnt. Foreign Office officials presented the autopsy report at a meeting of the Senate's Functional Committee on Human Rights, presided over by Senator SM Zafar, on Thursday. Cheema was arrested on March 20 on charges of attempting to attack the editor of a German newspaper which published cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad ( A source privy to the meeting told Daily Times that the report mentioned the cause of death as strangulation, but it also said there were no injury marks around his neck and Amir's hands were tied with laces. The sources said the report did not make clear whether it was suicide or not. |
