Feds detail IL state hiring probe
2006-07-01
Federal prosecutors are investigating "very serious allegations of endemic hiring fraud" in Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration, including allegations that employment was rigged at several state agencies in violation of laws that prohibit political consideration as a factor in most state jobs, according to a letter made public today from U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald said the federal government's investigation has "implicated multiple state agencies and departments" and said investigators also have "developed a number of credible witnesses" as part of their probe into state hiring practices under Blagojevich.

Abby Ottenhoff, a spokeswoman for Gov. 'Sonny Boy' Rod Blagojevich, released a statement today defending the administration's hiring practices. ``Among those we hired there were some bad apples who violated the rules. The systems we put in place in our first year helped ferret out this wrongdoing," Ottenhoff said. "We insisted on an independent Inspector General for precisely this purpose," she said. "We've acted on those IG recommendations up to and including termination, and where appropriate, referred them to the US Attorney for criminal investigation. We will continue pursuing those who would break the rules."

Gee, seems to be the same general political process in New Mexico too. You think it might be the same elsewhere too?

#3  Perfect example of why political corruption ought to be handled as it is in China. Just kill them. It will get really, really unpopular as a mode of operation, really, really fast.

#2  In Illinois we have two unique practices. The first is the children of our pols are appointed or shoehorned into their parents offices...unfairly called aristocracy some places

The second is the abolition of political parties. The Dems and Repbs are all one combine. So when they are out they are in and when they are in they are in.

Lisa Madigan's father is the head of Blago's campaign... like whe was really going to indict!
Fitz is after 1)Rich Daley and his posse 2) Gov Blago and his posse...see item 1 3)Karl Roves good buddy Bob Kjellander (a player)...see items 1 and 2.
