President denounces 'Secularism' and 'Liberalism' On Campus | |
2006-09-05 | |
Tehran, 5 Sept. (AKI) - Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday "there is a need to cleanse the country's universities from secularism and liberalism," remarks which could signal a purge of academics opposed to the government's hardline policies. Ahmadinejad, addressing a group of students in Tehran, said that for "150 years" Iran's education system "has been dominated by secular thinking leading to a loss of our Islamic identity." "The time has come for students not to limit themselves to protesting against thier secular and liberal professors but to shout their outrage at the top of their voices," Ahmadinejad said. Students committed to "isolating" such secular and liberal thoughts would receive the government's "full support," Ahmadinejad said.

#1 Excellent! They promote polarization at a time when we need allies in Iran. All the better when we make war on the Ayatollahs. It is my belief that Teheran won't have to be destroyed during the intervention. |
