Iran's top nuclear negotiator said Wednesday that the drubbing of the Republican party in the U.S. midterm elections "might lessen the U.S. warmongering policy in the region. It is possible that the U.S. will behave in a wiser manner and will not put itself against Iran." Ali Larijani will visit Russia later this week for talks on Iran's atomic energy program. Larijani, who said he would make the trip "in a day or two," had kind words for Russia, which has resisted international pressures to impose punitive measures on its trade partner. He described Moscow's position on a draft United Nations Security Council resolution that would impose sanctions on Iran as "logical and principled." Larijani did not say with whom he would hold talks in Moscow.
