The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested two Village Defence Committee (VDC) members, who had allegedly connived with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants and also helped them snatch weapons of other VDC members in Doda. Police said the arrested VDC members, who have been identified as Ghulam Mohammad son of Lassa Batt and Ghulam Hussain son of Ahmedu, residents of Tander, Garethar, connived with LeT-men, and surrendered their rifles and ammunition. Sources said investigations into the snatching of four rifles of VDC members by the militants revealed that two militants of LeT outfit, whose identity has not been established so far, approached VDC members Mohammad and Hussain at Tander on October 13 and asked them to hand over their weapons and ammunition, given to them in their capacity as VDC members.
