| The WomenÂ’s Protection Bill (WPB) has been sent to President General Pervez Musharraf for his approval and the president is likely to give his assent to the bill within this week, possibly even today (Monday), Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sher Afgan Niazi said on Sunday. The National Assembly and the Senate have passed the WomenÂ’s Protection Bill, but every bill passed by parliament requires the presidentÂ’s approval to become law. The WPB aims at amending rape laws to provide relief to women in Pakistan. |
