(KUNA) -- Algerian security authorities detonated a suspected booby-trapped car parking near the main post office in central Algiers on Monday. Government troops sealed off the area and roads leading to it and prevented citizens from approaching. Investigations showed that the car contained no explosive materials.The incident caused a state of panic and fear in the center of the capital where a number of government institutions and commercial shops and cafes are located. The intervention of the security authorities is in the context of a precautionary measures to secure the capital after terrorist operations and the explosions that targeted two security sites in the eastern suburbs of the capital. Two people including an Algerian national were killed when a bus carrying workers of an American company was ambushed last month.
