Fighting re-erupted in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday between fighters loyal to a dissident general and government forces, killing at least 19 people, said United Nations (UN) officials. The combat broke out before dawn around villages north of the city of Goma, capital of Congo's North Kivu province, said Lieutenant Colonel Didier Rancher, spokesperson for the UN force in the central African country. Rancher said calm returned by late afternoon. Election's over. Time to resume fighting until the other side gets its way. Then they can have another election to verify it and the fighting can resume.
