#8  my thinking on that is that the oxygen level in the water is low when plant growth is extreme, leading to low marine life levels

No the plants produce O2. You might be thinking of algae blooms.

Having sailed in thick weeds (pain in the rudder) I'm having a hard time figuring that one out.

Heard of Demodex before. Nasty.

#7  38. Most of us have microscopic, wormlike mites named Demodex that live in our eyelashes and have claws and a mouth.

Nighty night, sleep tight, don't let the Demodex bite.

#6  I also thought the "ice-bridge" concept made more sense

#5  Could be, Mitch - my thinking on that is that the oxygen level in the water is low when plant growth is extreme, leading to low marine life levels... good point, though

#4  BTW? This:

is serious OCD material. Now where are my tweezers...

#3  Frank, I suspect that the "following an ocean highway" means that said humans were boating their way across the kelp highway, and surviving off of an unusually dense ecosystem - you know, all the critters that would be feeding off of the blooms.

#2  btw: Women gain weight when they move in with a boyfriend because their diet deteriorates, but men begin to eat more healthy food when they set up a home with a female partner.

just proves there is a happy medium of sloth....

#1  good stuff, but I call bullshit on: " Ancient humans from Asia may have entered the Americas following an ocean highway made of dense kelp"....

kelp is in no way able to support weight, nor does even Giant Kelp, which, off San Diego, grows 1.5' a day grow close enough together to allow this "pathway". They need sunlight, big time, and growing that dense and close in an arctic/aleutian environment is pure nonsense
