| Bangladesh minister arrested on corruption charge |

| A former minister of BangladeshÂ’s outgoing ruling party was detained on Tuesday as part of the interim governmentÂ’s anti-corruption drive, police said. Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu, a former junior minister of land in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) coalition government, surrendered to authorities, said Inspector Rabindra Narayan Saha. The arrest brings to 30 the number of high-profile detainees with links to both the BNP and main opposition Awami League. The 30 now include 11 former ministers. The others are lawmakers and businessmen with party links. Dulu was among 50 people named on Sunday by the countryÂ’s anti-graft body for having wealth that did not match their income. |
