A Muslim group has won a court battle which, if lost, would have prevented it from completing the construction of a mosque. The Islamic Society of Boston said in a statement at the weekend that a Massachusetts superior court judge had ruled that the lawsuit brought against the Society, the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Roxbury Community College, was without merit and had been dismissed. The court ruled the lawsuit was improperly brought by James Policastro, directing that if the plaintiff had any legitimate issue with the project, he should have taken part in the multi-year public process which led to the projectÂ’s approval.
Jessica Masse, the Society’s inter-faith coordinator, said: “We are very pleased that the court put an end to the legal campaign against the Islamic Society of Boston.” |
