NICOSIA: Two Pakistani men held in Cyprus on suspicion of planning a car bomb attack on a Western embassy in Nicosia will be deported as illegal immigrants, police said on Thursday. “We have found no evidence or eye witness testimony to link these two people to terrorist activity, but they were found to be in Cyprus illegally and will be deported,” a police spokesman told AFP. The official said one of the men had admitted to ‘sympathising’ with a group linked to terror activity but denied any involvement in terror-related acts. Police confirmed that a third person, a Pakistani student, was also arrested but nothing incriminating was found against him. He will remain on the island. |
