2007-03-15
Chicagoans have a rare chance on Wednesday to see author Salman Rushdie in person. The controversial British writer will read from and sign his book Shalimar the Clown and sign copies at the Harold Washington Library at 6 p.m. He will be there as part of a program put on by the Columbia College Fiction Department.

#2  Seems to me like we got mostly dissidents, expats and asylum seekers from Iran. I think the environment there is so much more condusive to Islamists that most of them stayed. Sure there are a few asswads running around here, and I may be greviously mistaken, but every Iranian Ive ever met was very secular and modern in their thinking. In fact I can't ever remember meeting an Iranian that even mentioned religion.
