#1 Lots of good points, but remarkable how Peters has internalized many of the silliest myths about Iraq. The most important error he makes here is talking as though "the military" didn't in fact endorse and strongly back many of the worst decisions since '03. Memo to Ralph: they did, and they did so in MNF-I up until Casey was canned, and they probably still do. His devious little chicken-hawk slam against the administration also puts him into strictly unserious territory for a bit.
I think one can dispose of almost every single criticism he makes and only gain understanding of the situation and respect for Peters, save one: refusal to fight the insurgency seriously when it started. That is indisputably true, remains true even to today, and was one of the only things he mentions that has had a material affect on events.
