Casablanca, 10 April (AKI) - Two people died on Tuesday in an anti-terror police operation in Casablanca, Morocco, reports say. According to Moroccan police quoted by Arabic satellite television al-Arabiya, an alleged militant died after he blew himself up at an internet cafe in the al-Fida neighbourhood. A second man died shortly afterwards in a gun fire clash with the police who claim the two were would-be suicide bombers awaiting orders on their target and that they died when police tried to arrest them. Hummm, that sounds awfully familar |
What upazaila was that again? | On 12 March, an alleged would-be suicide bomber is believed to have died when he detonated the explosives belt he was wearing to prevent the police from arresting him at an internet cafe in Casablanca's Sidi Moumen neighbourhood as he was awaiting with an accomplice orders via the internet on which target to strike. I wonder if this is the Moroccan version of a "crossfire"? | Reports on Tuesday said Casablanca was on high alert and that police had set up many road blocks.
Last month's bombing occurred in the Sidi Moumen neighborhood, home of the suicide bombers who killed 45 people in Casablanca in May 2003, including the 12 suicide bombers. |
