(SomaliNet) A bomb was thrown at a police station in north of Somalia capital Mogadishu overnight killing one soldier, local official confirmed on Thursday – the attack came as north part of the capital still under curfew. The attack happened in Huriwaa neighborhood in north of Mogadishu where unknown gunman attacked the police station with a hand grenade bomb apparently causing the death of one police officer and wounding others. “It was heavy explosion that rocked the area, sending a thick smoke cloud in the sky but we could not come out because of insecurity,” local resident told Somalinet. The attacker escaped unharmed.
Soon after the bomb blast the police opened fire on the attacker killing one civilian and wounding five others. The civilian person was killed by stray bullets fired by the police in response to the attack. The security forces searched the area of the blast arresting 20 people linking with the bomb attack.
