Global warming hockey stick now broken

NASA has now silently released corrected figures, and the changes are truly astounding. The warmest year on record is now 1934. 1998 (long trumpeted by the media as record-breaking) moves to second place. 1921 takes third. In fact, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record now all occur before World War II. Anthony Watts has put the new data in chart form, along with a more detailed summary of the events.
The effect of the correction on global temperatures is minor (some 1-2% less warming than originally thought), but the effect on the US global warming propaganda machine could be huge.

Constantly being updated at link. The guy in charge of that department needs hung.

This was apparently a 2-man team effort at that NASA office (one of whom has previously filed a complaint about politicization of scientific data!!). Reference: Thread on Michelle Malkin's site today.

#3  But that's all OK, because at least the scientist in charge wasn't a) wearing diapers, b) in some sort of fantasy love-triangle, or c) drunk on his ass when he manipulated the data (maybe on second thought, as a geek, data was ALL he could manipulate....)

I was reading somewhere recently (Here's a related link) about the infamous hockey-stick graph: the data was cherry picked and manipulated, but it still didn't give the "correct" answer, so the source code of the model was "fixed" to make it fit. The resulting model will generate a hockey-stick graph for nearly any random data set.

#1  The effect on the US global warming propaganda machine will be nothing, zip, zero.

That particular machine doesn't run on science or truth, it runs on money, fear, and hysteria.

I don't look to see this affect them in the least.
They will simply ignore this fact like so many others that don't fit their agenda.

But it's good to know we arent gonna die before the next presidential elections.
