| Somalia: Government soldier killed in friendly fire |

| (SomaliNet) One soldier was killed and two civilians were wounded in friendly gunfire which occurred north of the Somalia capital last night, sources said on Wednesday -amid the insurgency escalating in the war-ravaged city of Mogadishu. Residents told Somalinet that soldiers within the government mistakenly exchanged gunfire last night causing the death of one police officer while two civilians injured by stray bullets. After 15 minute gun battle, the government soldiers recognized each other. Meanwhile, Islamic insurgent groups have carried out hit and run attacks on two government positions in Mogadishu. The first assault was targeted on the Hodon district police station while the second hit was targeted on government barracks in the main industry road of the capital. No casualty was reported on the soldiers. |
