The remote-controlled bomb, weighing about five kilogrammes, was detonated when he was at work tapping rubber in the plantation. The bomb, hidden underground, was connected to a coconut shell latex collection container.

In a separate incident, three security personnel were seriously wounded in Yala when they were inspecting a bomb site. The first bomb exploded at an intersection in Krongpenang sub-district but no one was wounded. Police officers and military personnel rushed to the scene to collect evidence and were caught by the second bomb blast which instantly cut off the right leg of Pol. Senior Sgt-Maj. Nirand Kunprach. Sergeant-Major Nirand died in hospital shortly afterward.

Two soldiers were also seriously injured. They were rushed to hospital. Suspected terrorists insurgents detonated the first remote-controlled bomb to entrap the officials, who responded to the incident, and the terrorists insurgents laying in ambush activated the second bomb by cellphone signal.
