BAGHDAD - At least 15 people were killed when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden car against a small eatery inside a Shia bastion in Baghdad after his attack on a police station was foiled. Fifteen people died in Sadr City when the bomber exploded his Mercedes beside an eatery after police fired at him as he tried to drive through a checkpoint at the nearby Al Nassar police station, security officials said. At least 45 other people were wounded, including four policemen, they added.
An AFP photographer said several shops and four civilian cars were also destroyed in the explosion at around 6:00 pm.
