Kids' bunny stolen; animal "rights" cited
2007-09-25
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A pet rabbit named Sugar Bunny was stolen from a preschool and fliers protesting circus animal acts were left in its empty cage. The preschool’s children gathered in a circle Monday to remember Sugar Bunny.

“We talked about how some people have different ideas about animals,” said teacher Lori Peters. “Some people don’t think they should be in cages.”
Did Lori talk with the kids about how some people have different ideas about 'property', and that some people don't think people should own anything?
Sugar Bunny vanished from the Community Building Children’s Center on Saturday, teachers said. “Somebody stoled him,” 5-year-old Zion told The Spokesman-Review, which gave only the first names of him and other children in a report on the heist. “I’m sad.”

The fliers expressed protests against the Ringling Brothers Circus, which was in town during the weekend, and had a picture of a bear trying to escape from a cage. The fliers bore the names of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the Northwest Animal Rights Network.

ItÂ’s unclear whether the preschool will find a new pet, Peters said.

#9  So the rabbit was stolen and released into the wild where he was promptly killed and eaten by a coyote or wild dog, since he has no outdoor survival skills.

#8  When the animal rights terrorists came for the little bunnies,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a magician.

When they freed the laboratory rats,
I remained silent;
I am not a scientist.

When they came to the circus to set the giraffes free,
I did not speak out;
I was not a carny.

When they came to the track for the horses,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a gambler.

When they came for my Spot,
there was no one left to bark.

#7  This smells of an inside job. The fliers are nothing but a red hareing.

#6  Based on political messages at the scene, this makes the action an act of terrorism. They should be found, charged, convicted and executed like all who commit, support or fund terrorism.

Make terrorists and their supporters pay, and I think you will see it used less and less.

#5  "so we freed him, he sprinted into the treeline, and cowered there until a coyote ate him, but at least he enjoyed his freedom....for a while"

#4  See?

"Pols like Bush are ensuring an escalation of tactics," said Josh Harper, a Seattle animal rights activist who was hauled before a federal grand jury in Portland this year. If President Bush sparks a renaissance in the nuclear-power industry, "they will be targeted," Harper predicted. If the nuclear plants are too heavily fortified, he said, the cross hairs will shift to the plant executives' homes -- or the executives themselves.

Then again, there's some people that oughta be in cages.
I blame Bush. He's made them all insane...
