 Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Wednesday that elections for the national and provincial assemblies would be held in the first week of January under a caretaker setup and predicted that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and its allies would emerge victorious. “I think the elections for national and provincial assemblies will be held in the first week of January,” Aziz said while speaking at an Iftar-dinner arranged for journalists at Prime Minister’s House. He said a caretaker government would be set up after the present government’s term had completed to ensure free and fair elections. |
