Babs Boxer Blames Bush, War for Fire Damage
2007-10-24
On a related subject, leave it to uber-Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer of California to politicize this fire. Today (10/23/07) she issued a statement charging the Bush administration with responsibility for the widespread fire damage. If our National Guard units weren't in Iraq, she said, we'd have twice as many people and twice as much equipment to deal with the fire.

Well thanks a lot, Senator. At least I know you can be counted on when the chips are down to find a target of convenience to nail with blame. Now it's Bush's fire. Way to go, Senator.

That's My Word.

#26  Babs,instead of running your cakehole, why don't you sponsor a bill to help out these people in need.Instead of passing blame, why don't you become part of the cure you ass.

#25  Burning the underbrush makes to much sense. The environmentalists will never go for it. Leaves and sticks are sacred to their religion. Plus, then they wouldn't have these kinds of fires to point at and shout at us for living any place other than a commie style concrete condo in a ghetto with a little train that passes by out front.

#24  well, AB6436, rest assured that, most of these losses were insured, so probably it won't cost you a cent, happy? The rates for rebuilt isolated homes will be higher (or not available), and that will lead to higher defensible (read: clear-cut or highly inflammable vegetation - cactus?) zones, any of which are understandable responses, yet less than desirable from a environmental nor aestetic view. Drought will cycle, and the vegetation will return.. we need to rethink the lack of burns in underbrush

#23  Maybe its not PC or even polite but I for one am Goddamn sick and tired of seeing Uncle Sugar bailing out people with my tax dollars who choose to live in high risk areas after there have been repeated wildfires/floods/hurricanes in those areas. And when it snows here we grid our loins and get out there and move the damn stuff ourselves. We leave the whining and crying to the idiots in Chicago. We have a local variety of morons who live in a flood plain that floods every single spring. And they act surprised when it does. I don't have any sympathy for them either.

As for concrete bunkers, I think certain types of home construction should be banned in certain areas of the country. IMO it would make sense.

#22  Watch out for Frank and the Holy Nine-Iron. A well deserved whack, Frank.

#21  Guess we should let the the Wisconsin Cheddarheads die in the next big blizzard, after all, they asked for it by living where it occassionally snows, big-time? I find that ludicrous, sorry. Apparently we should all huddle in indestructible concrete bunkers where there is a permanent adequate water source and food, it never snows, quakes, burns, has tornados, nor hurricanes or hail....

sarcastic hyperbole, yes, but it was deserved

#20  By the definition provided by Cheddarhead we'd abandon most of the Western US as it's all desert and can be prone to fires.

I find it easier to blame the environmentalists that blocked the laws allowing for enlarging fire breaks and cutting back on brush in certain areas.

#19  Yes, Cheaderhead, now is probably not the PC time to say it but you could question the wisdom of building in some of these areas. I know the insurance companies will.

#18  I saw her on the noon news conference today. I didn't hear the comment about Bush. What I noticed is that she spent most of the time talking about how "touched" she was, how hot it was when she stepped off the airplane and how glad she was that she had the opportunity to come and see it for herself. Because, you know, it's all about Barbara. She just came to glorify herself. When Duncan Hunter talked yesterday he made a brief announcement about how the military was sending some tanker planes and then he left.

#17  Hows about blaming people who choose to live in an area that by its geography, climate and vegetation is prone to wild fires. Same goes for idiots on flood plains, hillsides prone to collapse and cities below sea level.

#16  Rantburger Community:

Let me give you a little anecdote about Bab's and her level of intelligence [even though she is a law school graduate]. Prior to the first gulf war, after Iraq invaded Kuwait, we had some folks that became what you might say "guests" of Saddam. Some of them were from the great burned out state of California and I was working the hill for the company they worked for. So, we called on the good lady who at that time was a member of the house. After we briefed her she looked at us with a stunned look on her face. She thought we had made a mistake in calling the country Iraq. "Didn't we mean Iran?" Enough said.

#12  I would like to extend and invitation to Topeka, Madam Senator. Now is the time to Go Green! We could have Senator O'bama stop in and share tea.
-Governor Sebilius, (D-pwit, Kansas)

I would like to second P2K #9 comment and extend my solidarity with pieces of $hit which, as we all know, is the end result of very important and well done work cycle - thus setting it leagues above anyone using disaster to further themselves before taking care of the task at hand. Thats 3 strikes for politicians with the D grade for national stage emergencies.

#11  Siddown and shaddap, Babs. We'll have a "voice your idiotic opinion" opportunity later.

#10  Like Al Gore and others, she's just stuck on stupid. I'm starting to lump them all in with the profoundly mentally retarded, though I do not mean to insult the profoundly mentally retarded. They need sheltered workshops and close supervision.

#9  Broken record - you know if you offered your fellow Americans a million a year to serve, I'm sure there are other people of far better quality and intelligence [who won't insult ours] who'd step forward to be our next Senators/Representatives.

You know I don't have that authority, Dick.
Okay. I'll call Rove myself.
