Terrorist wounded, more rounded up as violence continues in Thailand

An terrorist insurgent gunman and a private soldier were wounded in multiple attacks in the southern provinces Monday.

In Pattani, an unknown number of terrrorists insurgents fired on a Ranger base in Kapho district on Monday afternoon. Government forces exchanged fire with the attackers before they retreated, leaving one wounded gunman who was taken into custody and is being treated in hospital.

In Narathiwat, a vile terrorist presumed insurgent opened gunfire at a karaoke bar in Sungai Kolok municipality. Army private Sarong Jewae was wounded in the leg. Police are seeking the gunman.

In Yala, about 80 police officers in a special task force searched eight target areas in Yala's provincial seat after the police learned that these areas are terrorist insurgent hideouts, where anti-government activists plotting attacks. The police detained four men and confiscated weapons and a cache of ammunition. One of the detainees is the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant.

Meanwhile, in Narathiwat, a 100-strong military group searched the home of a former local politician after his son, Nutsaree Muelee, and his companions, arrested on Sunday, confessed to shooting the deputy director of a school on February 20 this year. No evidence was found in the raid, according to a military spokesman.
