BAGHDAD - A US military helicopter crashed near Salman Pak, 25 kilometres (16 miles) southeast of Baghdad on Tuesday, the American military announced, without giving details of any casualties. The crash is the first by a US helicopter in Iraq since August 22, when 14 American soldiers were killed in northern Iraq after their Blackhawk came down during a pre-dawn flight. “An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident,” a statement said. “However, initial reports indicate the crash was not the result of enemy fire.” |
