LANDI KOTAL: A Turkish national was kidnapped in the Takkiya area of Khyber Agency on Wednesday, officials said. Landi Kotal Assistant Political Agent Ahmed Khan Orakzai told Daily Times that authorities had set up roadblocks as part of efforts to recover the kidnapped man. The Turkish national, identified as Buryal, arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday. The political authorities in Torkham deputed Khasadar Jehanzaib as his guard. Unidentified kidnappers intercepted the car carrying Buryal and the khasdar at Takkya at around 12.30pm, an official said. Eyewitnesses said the kidnappers were bearded men with long hair, and were sporting turbans. They had been waiting all morning for the ambush, they added. The kidnappers later released the khasadar, who had to be hospitalised as he had been beaten severely. Buryal arrived in Pakistan from Afghanistan but it could not be ascertained whether he was on an official or private visit.
