Parachinar clashes continue for 8th day |

Sectarian clashes continued on Sunday in Kurram AgencyÂ’s Parachinar district for the eighth consecutive day, witnesses told Daily Times. They said rival groups were targeting each otherÂ’s positions in several areas including Balishkhel, Ghoz Gahri, Sangeena, Sadda, Makhizai, Tangi and Alizai with heavy weapons. So far around 73 people have been killed and another 100 injured in clashes since last one week. On Saturday, four people from the Masozai tribe died and another eight were injured. Several rockets and mortar shells were fired from the Ibrahiam Zai area in Sadda. Two rockets hit the wall of Sadda Civil Hospital, causing panic among patients. The latest clashes started on December 22, four days after the Shia Turi and Sunni Mengal tribes signed a ceasefire agreement following weeks of fighting which left more than 100 people dead, AFP reported. |
