Seven Palestinians die in Gaza as Olmert vows "war"
2008-01-18
Israeli air strikes killed at least seven Palestinians, including a mother and child, in the Gaza Strip on Thursday as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert vowed to wage a "war" to stop rocket attacks on the Jewish state. The escalation in violence prompted Palestinian leaders to warn that renewed peace talks -- spurred by last week's visit by U.S. President George W. Bush -- were at stake.
"We shall have Dire Revenge!™"
The latest in a series of air strikes killed two Hamas militants and wounded three others, Hamas said. A prior Israeli air strike on a car in the Gaza Strip killed at least one Islamic Jihad militant, as well as a mother and child riding in a donkey cart, Palestinian hospital officials said. A third air strike killed a militant leader and his wife.

Militants in the Hamas-controlled territory have fired close to 100 rockets at southern Israel in the past two days following the killing of 18 Palestinians, most of them gunmen, in some of the heaviest fighting in months in the Gaza Strip. "A war is going on in the south, every day, every night," Olmert said in a speech in Tel Aviv. "We cannot and will not tolerate this unceasing fire at Israeli citizens ... so we will continue to operate."

"This war will not stop," the prime minister said, predicting Israeli military pressure would "tip the scales" and force a halt to rocket fire.

#20  g(r)om - that's one of the reasons I can't take your snark as anything but bitter backlash. You obviously are smart and know better. Do better. Jeebus

Well, never mind. Just start learning Spanish---you'll need it soon.

How does President Bush or Secretary Rice hurt the precio de las patatas?

Are you still worried about *President's Bushes Legacy* stupid? I'm not ..

LMAO!!

Can't think g(r)omgoru.. get thee hence to a Neurosurgeon and a Neurologist and git that flacid blob you call your brain tightened up.

Which Nation did the 100 rockets fall on oh blind one?

Can't focus g(r)omgoru, get thee hence to an Optometrist and git those defective eyes of yours checked out.

Have you heard loser, what Nation Iran wants to extinguish?

Can't hear g(r)omgoru, get thee hence to an ENT and git those defective ears of yours checked out.

I'll say it plainly, Israel has every right to neutralize Iran. It's called self preservation, and God Damn the people who belly ache about it.

Believe it or not Israel is getting help from the USA.

BTW Even Saudia Arabia will be mighty happy when the deed is done and so will almost every other Nation in the World.

#17  Bush doesn't care about a legacy. He said that cr@p in Israel because he was heading to Saudi Arabia in a couple of days to ask them to increase oil output. Tit for tat, Saudis said no, market forces dictate supply, Israel blows paleostinian terrs to pieces. Bush can play the "I'll say what you want to hear, but do what I want to do" game as well as the 'rabs.

Hmm. Did a fairly good job with the Germans and Japanese, I would think. Of course, our fathers's hands weren't tied by PC...

#13  Oh, yeah and something about a War on Terror, too.

Whatever that is. "Terror" isn't an enemy, its a state of mind.

We will never win this war against whomever it is we're fighting until we demonstrate enough courage to name the enemy.

#12  That and the 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan who are no longer living at the mercy and whim of totalitarian nutjob dictators.

It is not our job to free people and set up democracies to look like us. They will not work in the long run. Only the indigenous people can make it work, they have to want it bad enough to do something about it themselves, to fight for their freedom, to understand through sacrafice how precious it is. Like I always hear, "Freedom isn't Free". We canÂ’t hand it out and expect it to work regardless of how noble and sincere our intentions are.

#11  "Militants in the Hamas-controlled territory have fired close to 100 rockets at southern Israel in the past two days"

Then why are there not 100 THOUSAND unguided rockets of exactly the same sort flying right back at the same points that launched the 100?

#10  You better hope the election this fall is Clinton vs Rudy. If Obama gets the Democratic candidacy the Independents give him the election. If Clinton runs against Rudy, the Independents give it to Rudy. Clinton against McCain might win too. But no Independents will vote for Romney or Fred so they will lose bigtime.

I sometimes thing Hugh Hewitt is such a knucklehead when it comes to elections. I don't care how the Republicans vote or the Democrats vote. Its how Independents vote that win the general election.

#9  George II already has a "A Legacy"---the legacy of nuclear Iran.

First and Foremost that's the Legacy of Israel's elected government g(r)omgoru, way before it is that of GWB and/or the USA,

AFTERALL Iran has sworn the extinction of Israel.

Israel is obligated to destroy IranÂ’s Nuke ambitions by any means. Clearly they are clever enough to assemble all the military means needed to destroy IranÂ’s nuclear works.

Why Israel? linky

...The Ole Shit Mouth,
Robert McNamara
it didn't work then and it ain't working now.

Get serious and use the military advantage while you still have it for Christ sake.

Bomb the living shit out of Every car swarm. Flatten neighborhoods where rockets are fired from. bla bla bla...

#7  a few more Hamas folks died today in additional strikes

Hamas is now claiming that they are sending rockets into Israel to force a cease fire -- I doubt many Gazans are fooled by this. The failure of Hamas to produce any suicide bombings in Israel for many months is (from their point of view) quite a humiliation. They pride themselves on being better fighters than the west bank paleos.

#2  Okay, I think I understand what's going on.

Rice recently repudiated the "liniarity" of the Roadmap by removing the condition that the Palestinian authority vigorously suppress terrorism against israel originating on its soil.

I think Rice telegraphed this move to Olmert weeks ago to ensure the Israelis wouldn't protest this outrageous change in the rules when she sprung it on them. Up until now, the onus was officially on the palestinians to clean up terrorists, leaving Olmert off the hook. Now he's back on the hook, and pissed at the Americans for putting him there just so Bush can have "A Legacy".

I am so p*ssed off, I could scream. In fact, I *AM* screaming.

I have had about 30 fund raising letters from various republican organizations. I have decided to concentrate my giving to the State GOP, who's been doing a great job, and to individual campaigns.
