Pilot restrained after 'talking to God' on flight to Heathrow
2008-01-31
Yeah, but did God answer?
Dan Milmo

The co-pilot of a Heathrow-bound passenger flight had to be dragged from the cockpit and handcuffed after suffering an apparent mental breakdown in mid-air, it emerged yesterday.
Passengers on the Air Canada flight from Toronto to London said the co-pilot was restrained after yelling and "invoking God" while at the controls of the Boeing 767 plane more than 30,000 feet above the Atlantic. The flight was forced to make an emergency diversion to Ireland's Shannon airport early on Monday and the unnamed crew member was taken to a nearby psychiatric unit.

#5  In 1999 a New York-bound EgyptAir flight crashed into the Atlantic shortly after the co-pilot, who was controlling the plane, was heard to say "I put my faith in God" as the autopilot was switched off.

Flying carpets maybe, but I doubt Mo was checked out on 767's, so you know how that one was gonna turn out.
I also wonder if the author was trying to tip us on "something" by mentioning that story?

#4  Half way through the article I already decided to mention the Egypt Air flight, but it was mentioned in the article (!?!) except the article misquoted the Egypt Air co-pilot who was not speaking english.

God did answer in the form of an off-duty (ever off duty?) Canadian Soldier, especially if this guy was getting pshyched up to crash the plane.

#3  Except when allah is copiloting. Then kiss your ass goodbye. Egyptair 767
On Halloween 1999 an Egyptair 767 plunged into the Atlantic, killing all 217 people aboard. According the National Transportation and Safety Board report, the crash was due to 'the relief first officer's flight control inputs'. In plain language, the relief pilot dived the plane into the sea, screaming 'Allahu akbar' all the way down.

#2  I thought God was the co-pilot? At least that's what everybody tells me...

#1  Ahh, pic too big, but it's a legit one from the RB stash! So, you can't blame me! Anyway, it's not like I'm the kind of guy who should be held responsible for what he does, really, otherwise, it will never ends.
