| 'Afghan militants release 21 Afghans and Pakistanis' |

| Militants have released 21 Afghans and Pakistanis, who were abducted in Afghanistan’s western Farah province three days back, a local official said on Wednesday. “The 21 people abducted by anti-government militants have been released after the efforts made by the Farah’s administration,” Noorullah Khan, an aide to provincial governor Mohaidin Baloch, said. Nineteen of them were released on Tuesday and the remaining two on Wednesday, he added. He said the abducted people were local labourers, adding that some of them were searching for jobs there, while others were hunting precious birds. He denied press reports that some Arab nationals were among the hostages. Earlier, government officials accused Taliban militants for the kidnappings, but there has been no formal responsibility claim from the Taliban fighting the Afghan government and foreign troops. |
