KABUL - A suicide bomber rammed an explosives-packed truck into a government compound in eastern Afghanistan Monday, wounding at least four NATO soldiers and two Afghan police, officials said. The Taleban claimed responsibility for the blast, the fourth in a week in the Yaqoobi district of Khost near Pakistan. Four NATO troops were evacuated after the attack but the extent of their injuries was not clear, a US military spokesman told AFP. However, none were believed to have been killed, he said. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldiers had been providing security for the compound, a base for the district government, police and army, First Class Sergeant Dean Welch said. |
