Lurid Moonbat Fantasy #50: We're all doomed! - and there's NOTHING we can do about it
2008-03-24
According to the climate change scientist James Lovelock, this is the beginning of the end of a peaceful phase in evolution.

By 2040, the world population of more than six billion will have been culled by floods, drought and famine.

The people of Southern Europe, as well as South-East Asia, will be fighting their way into countries such as Canada, Australia and Britain.

We will, he says, have to set up encampments in this country, like those established for the hundreds of thousands of refugees displaced by the conflict in East Africa.

Lovelock believes the subsequent ethnic tensions could lead to civil war.

#17  My family always said they were originally from Sasquatchewan, but these days I'm hiding from them in this secret luggage theft facility under Denver International Airport. Thus far it seems to be working.

#16  Sasquatchewan -- isn't that Abdominal Snowman's home town?

Mike, itsa bit to the east from the current AS' location. Sometimes also refered to as Saskatchewan.

#15  Joe, no one knows the day and hour. But there is a cyclicity in nature (up and including supergalaxies), and at some point we are for a new mayhem of at least a solar system's scale--a climate change would be a minor annoyance and result of much larger forces at play.

Our current model how solar system works is rather incomplete to put it mildly, and if the ancients conevyed their observations with some degree of accuracy, it won't be pretty what's in the store.

Whether shit happes in 4 years or 40, does not matter much, we survived (that is our direct ancestors did) then, we'll survive (that is some fraction of us) now. But much will be lost--several centuries of human achievement erased, if not whole millenia.

I just hope that the remnant would react with the approach of Moses to these events (life religion), not with the approach of Cuculcan (death religion).

#14  GUAM NEWS > GROUNDED CONTAINER SHIP MAY HAD CONTAINED ILLEGAL ALIENS; + MVARIETY > MVA [CNMI] UPBEAT ABOUT CHINESE, RUSSIAN [visitor/investment?]MARKETS.

*Compare wid REDDIT SCIENCE > WORDPRESS - OUR CHANGING SUN AND HONEYBEE COLONY COLLAPSE DISORDER + THE SOLAR TO GLOBAL WARMING ISSUE - A SHORT ESSAY.

Also from REDDIT > DISCOVERY - THE PASSING OF ARTHUR C.CLARKE SEEMS TO HAD SET THE UNIVERSE AFLAME/AFIRE WID GAMMA RAY BURSTS.

Don't mean to bust Discovery's bubble, but as much as I love Clarke's books he was still alive when many of the GRB's were observed over Guam. WERE ALSO OBSERVED [fiery]EXPLOSIONS OUT THERE WHICH WERE NOT GRB'S, AS IFF SOME SPACE BODY(S)
BLEW APART OR COLLIDED WID ANOTHER.

D *** NG IT, CONTAINERS ARE NOT CONVERTED B-52 PLANE PARTS, when a future Guam Babe meets a dead Man walking out of the Sea, ala WW3: DESTRUCTION OF THE BATTLESHIP OKLAHOMA - THE CELINE DION THEME FROM "TITANIC".

#11  Again, the singular, all-encompassing, subtle or covert underlying SCIENTIFIC-INTELLECTUAL ONLY premise behind GLOBAL-PLANETARY WARMING IS THAT GOVT + SCIENCE, OR ELEMENTS THEREIN?, BELIEVE SOMETHING IS UP WID OUR SUN [e.g. weakening?], AND ARE UNCERTAIN/SUBJECTIVE AS TO WHAT IT IS HAPPEN OR OCCURRING, WHAT IT MEANS, NOR HOW TO RESOLVE IT.ETC. Its either this, or Academia has sold its soul to maliciously force OWG-SWO upon an unsuspecting World-Humanity. MORE THAN ANY SPACE ROCK(S), PLANET X's, OR BINARY "DEATH STARS", ETC. IT GOES AGZ THE RELIABILITY + FINITENESS OF PREVAILING THEORIES, MODELS, + QUANTITA/EMPIRICAL METHODS, i.e. MAN'S ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND CONTROL HIS OWN DESTINY BY AND FOR HIMSELF + HIS OWN, AGZ ANY AND ALL THREATS, espec as vv the SUN = GOD.

For me, GLOBAL WARMING started back in the late 1960's when I, as a very young child here on Guam, visually observed strange HTH ripple waves in the atmosphere + solar activities.

As for LOVELOCK, not everything in the Radical Enviro or EARTH-CENTRIC/FOCUSED ACTIVIST AGENDA LACKS MERIT. ALthough I regard myself as a dedic Conservative, I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS AGZ CONSERVATISM NOR FREE MARKET ECONOMICS FOR HUMAN SOCIETY TO MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO RE-USE OR RECOVER WHAT IT TAKES FROM NATURE.

E.g. GUAM > controversy btwn Government of Guam versus Feds in CLOSURE OF THE LOCAL ORDOT DUMP.

"Fighting their way into countries such as ..." > ASIAN DESERTIFICATION + WATER WOES + "EARTH/LAND CHANGES", ETC. > GUAM + WESTPAC MAY BE A FUTURE FOCAL POINT FOR MYRIAD ATTEMPTS BY MASSIVE NUMBERS OF CHINESE AND OTHER ASIAN REFUGEES [ enviro?] TO ESCAPE FROM VARI DETRIMENT(S).

1960's Guam versus 2040 > WORLD IS ALREADY 30-PLUS YEARS BEHIND SINCE EVENTS OBSERVED ON GUAM - DOES IT DESIRE TO WAIT ANOTHER 30-PLUS? 2050? 2080-2100???

IS THE SUN OKAY, OR IS IT NOT, OR DOES THE WORLD HAVE TO ASK OSAMA BIN LADEN TO ASK FAV MTV BABE WHITNEY HUSTON?

D *** NG IT, NASA-JPL, ETC. WILL PREFER/DEMAND DEATH THAN TO BE AT THE RECEIVING END OF A STERN "MICHELLE" LECTURE!

#10  Yea, Sasquatchewan too.

#9  If drought, floods and famine are so bad, those where food is still being produced aren't going to set up encampments of the refugees, they're going to kill them at the border to keep them from taking the little that remains. And that, my dears, is how the culling will take place, not improving the species in the least. Perhaps we should all move to Manitoba now, because I don't believe Australia has enough water.

#8  Lovelock believes that many places currently inhabited will be unsustainable due to: floods, drought, famine.

That would be true despite any resulting population deaths.
Posted by: lotp   2008-03-24 16:22

#7  By 2040, the world population of more than six billion will have been culled by floods, drought and famine.

So if the populations are culled why isn't there lots of room for everyone after 2040? Why the encampments?

#6  Well, I guess there's no point in spending any further money on grants for climatologists and the like.

#5  Unlike most of these Prophets of Doom, Lovelock does at least have a solution that doesn't involve genocide, regimentation, socialism or the fulfillment of other leftist fantasies.

He is a proponent of nuclear power and in fact goes farther than I do with it, proposing a de-centralized network of small nuke plants all over the world.

Of course, this is blasphemy to the left-conformist masses who oppose anything that might empower someone other than themselves.

#3  Wow, Erica Jong and Paul Erlich on the same day. This is like old home week, UMass- Amherst, 1975...

Paul Ehrlich is the modern version of Thomas Malthus — the most visible and persistent predictor of mass famine and economic catastrophe. Unlike Malthus, though, Ehrlich doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes; when one of his predictions of disaster fails to come true, Ehrlich simply moves on and makes other predictions of disaster, constantly pushing back the timetable for massive world famine, perhaps in the desperate hope that if he keeps predicting the same thing, eventually pure chance will fulfill the conditions he requires.

#2  Hey, Mr. Lovelock, talked to Paul Erlich lately?

Thus the difference in self-esteem, diligence and ability to create civilization.
