| Taleban militants often target foreign troops in Kandahar A suicide car bomb targeting a NATO convoy in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar has killed at least 8 civilians and wounded 22 others. "Eight people have been killed and 22 others including two policemen were injured," said Kandahar police Chief Sayed Agha Saqib. He added that no foreign soldiers were hurt in the attack. Residents said the blast appeared to have occurred on a busy road in the east of the city, the scene of a series of suicide attacks and roadside explosions by Taliban insurgents in recent years. More than 140 suicide attacks were carried out by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan in 2007, the record year since the fall of the Taliban in late 2001. |
