| Militants' threats do not scare us, says Hoti |

| We do not fear the threatening statements by militants and anyone challenging the government's writ would be dealt with an iron hand, NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti said on Monday. Talking to journalists after chairing a meeting of the provincial cabinet, Hoti said the provincial government would join hands with the federal government to tackle terrorism. He said the NWFP government was fully aware of the people's safety and security needs and would not allow anyone to disturb the law and order. He said there was no need to take dictation from the United States and the Awami National Party-led government would only accept the people's dictation. Hoti said the peace agreement with Swat militants was intact and there would be no operation in Swat if peace was restored there. He said some elements were trying to sabotage the peace agreement with militants in Swat, but the provincial government would take those elements head on. Militant chief Maulana Fazlullah had earlier alleged that the government was being dictated by the US and demanded the troops' immediate withdrawal. |
