(VOI) -- Security forces on Thursday raided Shiite Cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's office in Kut and arrested one of its security guards, a police source said. "In the early hours of Thursday morning, Iraqi security forces raided al-Sadr's office in downtown Kut in search of wanted persons and arrested its security guard," the source, who requested anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq Â- Voices of Iraq - (VOI). The source did not reveal whether the guard will soon be released, noting that "investigations are currently underway and he will be set free if he is found not guilty." Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. |
