(VOI) - U.S army forces captured five suspects believed to be al-Qaeda operatives during raid operations conducted in central and northern Iraq, a military statement said. "Coalition forces conducted a precision operation and captured a wanted man in Bayji, about 160 km south of Mosul. The man is assessed to be involved in bombing network for al-Qaeda network in Iraq (AQI) in the Tigris River Valley, moving suicide bombers around the area and helping plan suicide attacks" said A U.S military statement received by Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of Iraq (VOI). The announcement pointed out "Coalition forces captured a wanted man believed to be a liaison between various AQI networks in Baghdad and detained two additional suspects in the operation". It added "Coalition forces in Mosul detained one suspected terrorist while targeting AQI leaders in the city". |
