| US sees rise in Pakistani fighters in Afghanistan |

| A growing number of Pakistani militants who earlier operated only inside Pakistan and Kashmir are joining the intensifying insurgency against U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, U.S. officials say. The fighters, who are taking part in increasingly sophisticated attacks on Western troops, include guerrillas hardened by years of combat against Indian forces and others from outside the Taliban strongholds in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas, or FATA, the officials say. They say the influx far outstrips the flow of other foreign fighters such as Arabs, Uzbeks and Chechens into the area and coincides with a drop in high-profile attacks in Pakistan that reached a climax last December with the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. |

| #9 OP---I think that Gov Palin wanted Parnell to run in the primary for Rep. Don Young's seat in the House, because Young was getting too embarassing with his legal stuff and his pork barrel behaviors, and Young was giving Alaska a bad name with his behavours. There is a lot of talk about what will happen to Sen. Stevens. With the indictments for over 250K in gifts from Bill Allen late of VECO, as well as car trades, all unreported, Stevens will be in a serious legal battle. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. If he wins the primary, he will be running against Mark Begich, our present tax and spend mayor of the Anchorage Municipality. The Republican Party has really put their foot in the bear crap up here. A number of state legislators have been convicted of taking bribes, trading favors, etc in the last year. I think gov Palin won because of her stance against politics as usual. Which is a good thing. Dave Cuddy has been running against Stevens for the Senate in the upcoming primary. What he says so far IMHO is good. He sees serious systemic problems in the national govt that need to be fixed or we will lose our country and/or go bankrupt. I would like to see Parnell continue against Young, as planned. I would like to see Senator Stevens continue his term in office but back out of the primary for the good of the party, and I would like to see someone with the ideas of Dave Cuddy go up against Mark Begich. And in conclusion, mah fellow Rantburgers, I would like to see independents elected and the Republicans and Democrats booted out of Congress for the greedy, elitist, scandalridden, fiscally irresponsible, tratorous, etc etc scoundrels that they are. Well, that is my utopian vision, anyway. I will pass on the latest news that I hear up here, rumors, innuendo, and a few facts to add flavor to the perloo, Old Spook. |

| #8 Hey AP - whats your SITREP on the whoel Stevens mess - they going to let him win the primary then press him to resign and appoint Parnell who will then run for Senate? If he beats young this also give them a chance to replace Young. |

| #6 The President laid out the principle of You are With US or You are Against US, and then he got cold feet on the follow through. That really hurt the effort. His poor communication skills, coupled with the relentless propaganda skills of the dems and the MSM diluted the effort and dragged this whole WoT out for years. |

Dreaming again. The troops are willing. It's the high command in DC that has cold feet. Time to break out the napalm, and screw any Euroweenie that bitches. A few dozen crispy critters, and Pakis won't be quite so willing to cross that imaginary line. |
