| ISI notification held in abeyance |

| The government has held in abeyance a memorandum it issued on July 26 that placed the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) under the Interior Ministry, according to a memorandum issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday night. "The prime minister is pleased to direct that the federal government will carry out further deliberations on co-ordinating the intelligence efforts. Till the completion of these deliberations, the Cabinet Division's July 26 memorandum is held in abeyance," the memorandum said. The decision was taken at a meeting here between Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. However, the two leaders decided to further deliberate to improve intelligence related to internal security and the war on terror. |
