2008-08-08 |
Russia has been backing South Ossetia's move toward "autonomy" to keep Georgia in line. This could get interesting. |

#4 Nothing much will happen: Georgia will get a new president, one who lives in a real world. |

#3 phil_b: Invade S. Ossetia? Hell, Russia will probably invade Georgia. |

#2 The only option for the Russians is a large scale troop deployment. In effect, invade S Ossetia. I personally doubt they will, but I'm by no means sure. |

#1 VARIOUS WAFF.com Threads > e.g. GEORGIA INVADES SOUTH OSSETIA - RUSSIA WARNS MAY [militarily?]INTERVEN ON SOUTH OSSETIAN SIDE. IMO, Russia now formally recognizes that Radical Islam is intent on the [pro-Islamist] destabilizing and domination of CENTRAL ASIA INCLUD FORMER SOVIET SSRS + INDUCE NEW BREAKUP OF POST-USSR RUSSIA AMAP. It feels its position in Eurasia is steadily becom threatened by China on one side + Nuclearizing Iran = Radical Islam on the other. USA > WAR OUTSIDE OF IRAQ proper; versus RUSSIA > WAR OUTSIDE OF CHECHNYA, SOUTH OSSETIA, ETC.??? |
