Chief of the Turi tribe, Ali Akbar Turi , said that fighting erupted when militants attacked various areas of Lower Kurram. He said 15 militants were killed in a counter attack. Akbar Turi has urged the government to take action against the extremists.
Meanwhile, the rival Bangash tribe denied reports that militants were taking part in the fighting. Members of a Jirga have failed to persuade both sides to stop fighting and suggested the security forces launch an operation against them.
