| Members of the Gujar Tribe claimed on Friday to have killed six militants following the attempted kidnap of one of the tribe's spiritual leaders. "The Taliban attempted to kidnap a local fortune-teller, which sparked clashes," witnesses said. Tribesmen also set fire to the militants' explosives-laden vehicle, and clashes continued in the Mandal Dagh area in Matta tehsil, a stronghold of the militants in Swat. Four members of the tribe died during the clashes. A mortar shell killed a man and his daughter in Akhun Killi, while militants killed PPP local leader Waqar Ahmed in the village. |
