(AKI) - A suicide blast killed at least three civilians and injured 15 others in western Mosul on Friday, said a police source, quoted by Iraqi news agency Voices of Iraq."A suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt strapped to his body among a gathering of prayers near a Shiite mosque in Sinjar district, west of Mosul, killing three civilians and injuring 15," the source, who wished to remain anonymous, told to Voices of Iraq.
Iraqi security forces have cordoned off the area while ambulances rushed the wounded to hospitals.
Mosul is located 400 kilometres north of Baghdad in the province of Nineveh, and is still considered one of Al-Qaeda's strongholds in Iraq.
