#4  OS, he's a massive dog in the race. He *can't* win. And what happens if he goes back on his word? *I* wouldn't vote for him based on that promise if I was Alaskan.

#2  Actually, Stevens needs to stay in the race and win it on the promise that he will resign immediately and allow Gov Palin to appoint Lt Gov Parnell, who will then run (and win) a special election.

Basically, Stevens needs to win and give the GOP a do-over. He owes them. Lets see if he has the guts to try to pull off that stunt.
