| No agreement with Taliban for safe movement of troops: Gilani |

| Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani denied on Monday that the government has a secret agreement with the Taliban that states the Taliban will not create unrest in the Tribal Areas if troops are withdrawn amid rising tensions on the eastern border. The prime minister told reporters in Islamabad that the government would not support the 'establishment of a parallel authority' in the Tribal Areas. Gilani said nobody would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government or to encourage militancy, "so that NATO forces do not get an opportunity to sneak into Pakistan's territory". He said he had already assured his Indian counterpart of Pakistan's co-operation in investigating the Mumbai terror attacks. He also denied that the United Nations banned the Jamaatud Dawa because India approached the world body, and said the matter had been pending with the Security Council before the Mumbai attacks. |
