VILNIUS - Lithuania is to begin talks with the United States on taking in two prisoners from the controversial US Guantanamo detention facility on Cuba, Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas said Friday. ‘On February 5 we received an official request from the United States to contribute to the resolution of the Guantanamo question,’ Usackas said.The US asked Lithuania to ‘host two people’, he added. ‘It is a request from our close friends, a particularly important ally,’ the minister said, adding that talks would begin next week in Lithuania.

‘The persons concerned will also have to express their full agreement to come to Lithuania,’ the minister added.
