Ethnic festivities resume in AlgeriaŽs Ghardaia region |
2009-04-18 |
[Maghrebia] At least 30 people were injured Thursday (April 16th) after ethnic clashes between Malekites and Ibadites resumed in the Algerian town of Berriane (Ghardaïa province), local press reported. I thought the Amalekites were all smote a coupla thousand years ago? The wali of Ghardaïa is expected to hold an emergency meeting Friday with security services. "Joshua fit the battle of Ghardaia, Ghardaia, Ghardaia, Joshua fit the battle of Ghardaia, Ghardaia, Ghardaia, And the wali came tumblin' down!" The resurgent violence comes a little more than a fortnight after village elders signed a peace charter. Oh, that worked well. |
